Hi Nikki, I have not tried this one. Is it a ointment??
Hi Alisha ,its a tablet drug like cyclosporin and methotroxate, its side effects and long term use is not as bad though as the other two .
has this medication helped at all if yes i will ask my doctor for it
Hi Tommy , as ive said above ive tried lots of things from light tretment and the above medications , methotroxate didnt suit me it lowered my imune system , cyclo worked for a while but has more side effects this one now seems to be helping my psoriasis cleared completly in two weeks its just started to come back so my derm has upped the dose i have blood tests to check my liver function and all is going well at the moment , im just hoping the upped dose will stop it flaring more , its well worth getting a good derm and finding out about these drugs as long as you can cope with the side effects ....Good luck !
Hi,
I was on Ciclosporin for two and a half years but my renal function (kidney) deteriorated. I came off (Renal back to normal pretty quickly) and have been on Acitretin for just about 18 months. Totally cleared (in about 4 weeks of taking it), initially no side effects.....however:
After about 5 months, I noticed alot of hair on my pillow - and have since lost alot of hair, effectively its thinned alot but still evenoly covered. My eyebrows and eyelashes have also reduced alot, and the hairs on my arms and legs have also almost completely gone. I have alot of peeling on my palms and soles of my feet, and they are quite tender - I blister easily if in the garden or working manually etc. I have also got sore, chapped lips and my nostrils bleed and scab alot. Additionally, I have very poor regulation of my body temperature, as Acitretin has thinned my skin. I am now always feeling cold, and wrap up, then I sweat alot....a nice vicious cycle.
I am now considering coming off. Humira has been mentioned as an alternative
