Hey there,

I'm wondering if anyone here has diabetes.  My primary care physician is concerned that I may be prediabetic and is having me come in for a blood draw today...A little unnerving to say the least.  In any case, I wanted to know more about how diabetes affects psoriatic sufferers and if it causes any bad reactions with the meds that we take...I guess I'm wondering if I will have to stop taking my "wonder" drug if I, in fact, am diabetic:)  Thanks,  Sharicka

Good luck and keep us posted. There is increasing evidence that the two are linked:

I'm sure there are diabetics on this site who can give us some insights into living with both.
Well i am a diabetic and trust me it does not interfere with my psoriasis!! so dont worry too much because when you are a diabetic you watch your diet which also helps with psoriasis. but my drug for diabetes does not interfere with any of my psoriasis drugs! and I have been every drug available in the market for psoriasis, so no worries! and hopefully your results come out to be negetive, because I am just tired of keeping up with sooooo many meds, other than that no probs!!! Good luck with everything! :-)
HI Guys,

Thanks for the information Mike and Afifa. Turns out the I am on the cusp. 5.5 out of 6.0. Not sure what those numbers mean but they are too close together for my comfort:) I'm going to start with diet and exercise. The cholesterol and high blood pressure are scaring me, as well. Taking my beau on a sweetheart run this Sunday. Time for me to live healthy.

Oh okay well you know really 5.5 is not bad out of 6.0! I am always struggling to keep it at 6.0 because with psoriasis it has been really, really difficult for me to even get out of bed. did the doctor say anything about meds?? because I have tried many of them and for me metformin, glimepiride and actos has worked wonders!!! And glad to hear that you are already taking charge! Was very difficult for me to even digest the fact i am a diabetic while being only in 10th grade! but i m living with it and its easy to deal with than psoriasis i tell you! But what's up with cholesterol and bp?? Are you taking cyclosporine by any chance?? because that made my bp go sky high! so check if your psoriasis meds are making them high! well hopefully you dont develop the full diabetes! andddd have fun with your beau on sunday! keep us posted! :-)
