My son Kirk, who is 11 years old and in the 6th grade is always coming home with new things that kids are saying to him about his Psoriasis. Mind you, these words are very hurtful to Kirk and not funny in any way for a child who has severe Psoriasis.
The kids at school are always saying at breakfast time that Kirk has "Cornflakes in his hair."
One day it was snowing, and the kids in the classroom said that "Kirk must be standing on the top of the building shaking his head."

Julie (Kirk's Mom)
"Maybe if you rub a little battery acid on that, it might clear it right up" A man I did not know told me this when I was in high school and he was dead serious. I didn't know if I should laugh or run!
Can I get that?
well i had so much dried skin and it would fall on to the carpet and my room mate said it looked like i was falling apart
I say I leave a part of me every where I go!

i guess the most dumbest thing would be that you have a lot of dandruff. I think people should take this problem seriously . Its a brain altering disease. It doesn't just effect the skin it effects you overall.
I have had people ask me if I have poison oak or if I have been burn. When I was in middle school a boy said my psoriasis spots were hickeys. I could go on and on about things been said to me about my psoriasis.

we def do leave parts of us everywhere we go. I have to be all tucked in when I go to work, and still, it is hard to be completely tucked in

I got called nicknames when I was small... They call me a ghost coz I have to wear this special sweater and it is white. They said I snowed. It hurts... very much. Even after 18 years, and now that I have my friends and a bunch of coworkers who accept who I am, it doesn't get easier. I know you musta love yr kid very much but make sure you know how much pain and how much hurt he is getting inside. I am telling you, 18 years being a patient, my heart is broken so many times over so many things.. I am not even whole or even half of whole inside. I tried to talk to my mom, mom tries to put a positive spin on it but only seeming to downplay my actual pain
when i hered this i started to think of 5th and 6th grade all over
once more
kids are mean this age and theres not that much we are selfs can do
once in 5th grade i ran come cry because of how stupid and mean kid where to me
i had my mom go up to the school a few times but there was not that much they could do

when you kid moves up some grades kids should lighten up
but i know how hard it is for your kid to be going throw this
and its hard for you as a mother to here this
i once had to switch schools
but if she keeps her head held high an her tear held back
plus stiking to wat she know and not wat kids say she should be okay
if she ever need eneyone to tell aboout eneything on psoriasis just have her write me

i hope this get fixed.....
