Right now I'm currently on Enbrel injections twice a week. It is the best drug that I've tried for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Nothing has ever worked before. I'm in remission and almost feel like a normal person. I'm a little bummed hearing that some of you had been on Enbrel and it stopped working. I would like to hear from more of you that have been on this drug, and how long you were on it when it stopped working.
kaiser put me on enbrel and soriatane for three months and it worked great.I,ve been off the meds for three months and still fairly clear.I,am using dovenex cream to maintain my clearing.I will say that the possible side effects of those two drugs kinda scared me. I don,t think i would ever take them long term.
I have been on Enbrel for about 5 or 6 years... My psoriasis cleared up a lot but I still have times where it gets bad....(not as bad as before i was on it) but two time my doc had to have me "double up" on injections for about a month until my skin calmed down... It has never went away completely

I take that back....my psoriasis did go away completely one time....it was when Skin cap came out....then they pulled it from the market and guess what....boom...flair up buy that was way before enbrel
how long untill you went in remission?

It took about three months of injections twice a week before it started clearing up. I'm on injections once a week now and still I'm cleared up. It has been almost a year ago that I began Enbrel.

HI. HAVE BEEN ON THE ENBREL THEREPY A YEAR IN AUGUST. SORRY TO SAY NOT WORKING. WITH ABOUT 20 PLUS YEARS TRYING DIFFERENT PROCEDURES, WITH NO LASTING EFFECTS TO THIS PROBLEM. WHAT IS YOUR SECRET?
I believe it has something to do with what type of psoriasis that you have. I have pustular psoriasis of the hands and feet with psoriatic arthritis also. My sister has psoriasis (plaque kind) on her elbows, knees, and legs. When it started on her hands, our derm decided to put her on Enbrel injections twice a week. It has been three months since she began treatment and it is clearing up on her hands but not so much on her knees and elbows. That may have something to do with the effectiveness. I don't know. What kind of psoriasis do you have? I have also changed my eating habits. I eat a diet made up of mostly fresh fruits and vegetables. If I eat any meat, it is the lean kind. No red meat or pork. I drink mostly water or skim milk. Absolutely no white bread, rice or pasta. Yeast really bothers my well being big time. I try very hard to avoid people who have strep throat, as this irritates the psoriasis also. I'm so sorry that it's not working for you. It really saddens me to hear that my wonderful drug is of no help to someone.

Hey There Monica,
My name's Rick.
I've had psoriatic arthritis for 20 years; extremely bad the 1st 12 months -- multiple cortizone injections for the arthitis, lots of topicals for the psoriasis. Did the PUVA for 5 years and naturally concerned about the cancer effects. Was tickled to learn about the Enbrel. Went on it in 2004 (I think). Important to note, that if I took no meds at all for the psoriasis, 80% of my body gets covered with psoriasis lesions. The Enbrel was absolutely a wonder drug -- cleared everything up in 3-4 weeks and continued that way until Oct-Nov 2009.
My lesions are starting to come back. For now what I try to do is apply ample cortizone (Rx, heavier duty than across the counter) to band aids and keep the band aids on the lesions for about a week (blv it or not, they stick). But it's getting harder and harder to keep up. I'm thinking the psoriasis is losing its potency. Dang.
But I'm also hopeful, that it might just be the winter months .... I do seem to do better in the summer.
Hope this helps,
Rick
