I have been recently diagnosed with psoriasis, it is especially bad on my feet. I have been given differents meds since it started in Iraq. My feet are the worst and the bottom of my right foot is very tender and I cannot walk sometimes. I am on Methotrexate since yesterday, as my foot is still swollen and hurt severely. As I am in th Navy, I have to go to the Doctors now at least twice week now for the pain which seems nothing is working, it is un-bearable and up setting as I feel useless now to my family and very down about why me, why now?? I can deal with the other parts as my legs and torso but the feet thing is very painful and distracting from everyday life!! Any suggestions for my feet, beside creams and meds that seem not to work for the most part. Hope the meds kick in soon or i will be really up-set.

"I also was told to take bleach bathes too. About a half cup to a tub of water!"

Michael, I'm curious what the bleach bath will do for you...did the Derm? say?

I'm doing an experiment today by slathering vasoline onto my hands and then covering them with thin clear vinyl gloves (box of 80 for $4.00 at Walgreens, their brand). Not that I need to wear this specific type of glove. Someone else on here put me onto this. It is suppose to force the vasoline into the skin/pores rather than soak into the cotton gloves that I would otherwise be wearing ...and of course keep the messy vasoline off of the furniture, keyboard, etc. I probably won't wear the gloves all day long since it is Saturday and I hope to be enjoying the weekend. Although, I might. Either way I will keep you informed of the results.

I have joined you on this journey.....through my 14 years of dealing with psoriasis I have never had it on the palms of my hands nor on the soles of my feet....well since being in the hospital this month i have gotten it on my hands and they have been peeling like crazy.....people keep asking me how it feels....the only way i can think to describe it is when you grab your steering wheel in your car on the hottest day of the year...that scortch burning feeling......is that how any of yours feels?....im new to dealing with this so im not sure what to do about it....it hurts to hold my little girls' hands so im having to adjust.....although now my hands are almost done peeling i just have the crazy tenderness.....about two weeks ago i noticed my feet itching more than normal....so i look and wham....my feet are doing the same thing....peeling like crazy...i love sandals...i have never really been a sock and shoe person....i dont know if this is a good thing with the feet like this or a bad thing...i have tried shoes and no shoes...same the both way...so now my wonder is....what do yall do to keep your feet hydrated and from hurting......just all new stuff to me and i know i can count on yall for good advice!!!!....much <3
My Derm, said the bleach bath will help keep infections and skin diseases from being inflamed and growth. As I have the "Eurythrodermic Psoriasis" which i am prone to get infections more. I also use gloves and cotton gloves too, I usually steal some from the Derms office (LOL), or get them from Wal-Mart. I just do not like the way my hands give off a sweaty nasty odor after i take them off!!! Good luck too ya and let me know how your hands do? Take care and God Bless!!

Cindy,

I also have the same symptoms and various things work for me I have to keep my feet creamed/lubed up with 100% Cotton socks, my hands I wear latex or rubber gloves over night, maybe cotton gloves too. some days are better than others and the itching on my feet is uncomfortable no matter what i do. My hands peel and itch too but it comes in waves. When they get bad they hurt all over too, and my finger tips also hurt real bad. But it gradually goes away, and comes again in a week or so the whole process over. I try to keep no socks and shoes on at all. But then my feet get dried out, so have to lube up then, LOL!!
As I have just started getting this real bad back in Jan. I am trying to deal with this as much as possible my whole life changed, including my sex life, which has dwindled now to nothing, but trying to cope with my kids as well. I am now trying be more active and not let it bring me down or control my life. I hope to be able to function here soon and just accept what i have a start living. Thank you! God Bless!!

Michael,

May I ask what the doctor has prescribed for you to use for p? Also, when you say creamed/lubed what are you using and how often with the cotton socks or gloves? When you use the gloves (cotton/latex) do you use them together?

Always looking for ideas that might help or that I can pass along to others.

Patricia
Pat,

I am taking Soriatane, and Bactraban(Antibiotic). The creams are Triminicielone, and either Aquaphor, and or other thick creams over the counter. I use them as soon as i get out of the shower. And cover my whole body. As for the gloves I wear the latex or rubber gloves during the day, when my hands are bad. wear the cotton ones at night. But different things will work for everybody, I still am looking and trying different things o help me adjust and be comfortable.
