Well first of all.....Welcome to the Cure Now Family!!!!!....This site has been my saving grace....There are a lot of meds out for treatment options right now...My miracle has for far been Remicade....it is an infusion I get at the hospital every 4-8 weeks (depends how bad my skin and joints are)...Like I say...I have been on a bunch of meds through out the years and this one has taken me from 90% coverage to clear for over 7 months now i have a little on my arm but nothing yet that will stop me from wearing short sleeves.....

I wish you the best on finding a great medication that works for you...im sure more people will write and let you know everything they are on right now....look up Enbrel and Humeria...those are big right now as well.....

Good Luck :-)
Thanks for commenting Cindy.. I mainly have it on the front of my legs going from ankle to thigh.
But the last few months it has started on the backs of my legs, which i think is mainly down to scratching in the night which i sometimes cannot help :(((
I have been to my Doctors today an asked for Embrel ( which he hadnt even heard of an had to look it up )
An then told me i was unlikely to get it as it is £90.00 a shot,, He was'nt to helpful or caring..
Are you in th UK?
No Im not in the UK...and sorry to say but I know nothing about health care there either....but I do have a suggestion for you.....Shop around for a great derm that not only listens to you and cares about your overall being but one who is up to date on everything news with fighting this disease.....I know so little about health care there I dont even know if you can shop for different doctors...it took me a few years of having good doctors to having the worse doctors that made me feel like crap about myself and my skin...last year I found the BEST derm....I love him...He is such a caring person and doctor....he is just amazing...always telling me about treatments and giving me options.....so i say shop around (if you health care coverage lets you) for a derm that will meet your needs......and good luck with finding a caring derm and finding your treatment.... :-)
hi i'm samantha and i'm a newby to this site. i have had cronic psoriasis for over 20 years i have had lots of different treatments over the years i have been on methotrexate for the last 8 it helps most of the time but do have bad flare up like i am now , if you are looking for a good doc and in the uk his name is mr charles holmes and he works out of warwick hospital in warwickshire but there also good ones at st thomas in london i went to see this guy many years ago had read an article in a mag phoned hospital up and begged him to see me as i was getting married and it was really bad did the trick didn' have any when i got married i think you have to do a bit of research and be cheeky it worked for me ! good luck
Hey there newby here also, jsut made appointyment for Stelara treatment today, Have tried most things available down here. Most of the Derm's in melbourne aren't aware of the drugs you talk about here such as Embrel, Remicade, Humeria etc...
I had to be very pushy to get them to start treatments as drug was only approved for use on March 1 2010, maybe you jest need to demand some action from the doc's and as Sam says be a bit cheeky.
All the best with getting on the Stelara treatments
Welcome aboard! It is unfortunate that you were not able to get a hold of Enbrel, it works so well for so many. I wonder if that is a product of your health care system. It is such an expensive product that I have to jump through hoops to get it here. I originally offered to pay for my own scripts out of pocket. My insurance provider was able to shake the dust off of their pockets and pay it on my behalf. As Craig mentioned, be firm. I was at the doctor's office weekly and it took crying, anger and relentlessness for them to realize that it was in their best interest to help me:) This site is a good place to be if only for understanding but there are also many helpful tips, suggestions, and answers!!!!!!!
hi welcome to this site,i am in london as well .
i have searched for a good dr ,people recm me dr vora i have appointment on tuesday hope he is the one!!!!!
Hi! I'm not on any injection or pill treatment, but i am using a topical steriod spray- Clobex. it has done good things for me.
Good Luck!
Hi
Have you ever tried methetrexate? I took for approx 5mths and most of it cleared.
Hey Steven, if your doctor never hear of Enbrel, you need a new Doctor, ASAP!!! Can you get yourself to a Rheumatologist? There are programs set up by some of the drug companies that will help day for the shots, if you find a smart doctor they should know the loopholes. Try finding a hospital near you where they would be doing research on these kinds of drugs. Those are the doctors you need to see.
Thanx for all your support people, i have received more info here within weeks than a lifetime of listening to shitty Doctors that do not give a shite about this problem.. thnx
