I just got an email that Stelara has been approved by the FDA, fully. Has anyone been able to use it yet? I am excited about this because I am on Humira now and it has stopped clearing me, it is now just maintaining what it has cleared and keeping the rest under control. I see my Derm next month and hope to be put on it.

I talked to my derm already also as I was just waiting for FDA approval to get on it. I have heard WONDERFUL things about this new drug both here and in the UK from people that were in it's trial so my figers are crossed...
I have never headr of Stelera. I had great results with Humera and cleared completely for a year, and then the drug just stopped working and my psoriasis came back. My doctor tells me that sometimes this happens with the biologics, they just "stop working". She is going to switch me to Enbrel.
Hi Kristine ... I also rec'vd NPF email on Stelera and want to start asap. I am 90 % covered from scalp to feet with psoriasis and, also have psoriatic arthitis. I have been on pills , home injections, iv's , biologicals , topical creams ... same treatments for many people with these diseases. These treatments help but then they stop working . Let me know when you start Stelera.
Anyone on stelera yet. The drug has been approved and no one has commented, for awhile. I am on Enbrel and getting ready for a switch. My Derm. wants to move on it, but the PA doctor is reserved on it, as to it being so new. Also it is supposedly only FDA approved for P, not PA. But the FDA had a reverse with Enbrel when it came out, so keep that in mind. Any new thoughts or info, would be appreciated. Stelera seems to be a move in the right direction, targeting the specific TNF #, versus the whole spectrum, if I am understanding it properly.
I have a doctors appointment next week in hopes of starting this medication. I will definitely keep everyone up to date if my insurance will cover this medication for me. I need relief :(

Hi Kristine,
I went off Humira because it wasn't working. Put myself on Stelara and had the first shot, nothing yet, no results. Skin has rebounded from Humira and am about 85% covered. I have heard that it is accumulative (Stelara) and doesn't start working for approximately 12 weeks. It took me a good 4 weeks with insurance etc. to even get the script. I don't know how long you have to be off Humira before starting the new drug but because I was their first patient they (doctors) were not very well informed. Bottom line........Good Luck!!
I started it a week ago, 90% covered due to rebound from Humira. Nothing yet, no results. Guess it takes about 12 weeks before anything happens.............dunno, not happy but looking toward the future?

Started Stelara last week, got the first shot after waiting for doctors and insurance for about a month. I am still 90% covered (rebound fom humira) Know that blood work is requiered, an updated TB test and insurance approval.

Well, I went to my derm last week and she wants me to wait a year to start Stelera because it is so new, she wants to know about any side effects, ect. So I am still on Humira and she added some topical things for me.
Where do you recieve the shots for this do most derms have them or is it outsourced?
