What do you think triggered your Psoriasis?

I had strep throat and broke out with guttate psoriasis about two weeks later at the age of 33 for the first time. It took six months to clear up with nbuvb light treatment. Now when I get stressed out or have a cold I will flare up again.

For me I say bad luck and bad genes. But yeah, I hear guttate goes crazy from strep.
Well, for me, it was a yr ago. I was going to work full time, grad school full time, and had other responsibilites. I can remember having a swollen elbow. I had it checked out and got some antibiotics to treat it as it just appeared to be bursitis or something. At the same time, I was super stressed from finals going on at the same time and noticed I began to get "rashes". I figured I was stress-related from everything going on at the moment so I went to see a derm that prescribed some topical ointments (that of which didn't work). The "rashes" just kept spreading. I had a thought it might be psoriasis by the plaques I was developing and the areas where they were forming. I was later diagnosed with psoriasis. I feel that the combination of the swollen elbow (infection) and the stress during that time brought on my psoriasis.
My huband has Psoriaisis and It too broke out after a severe bout of Strep Thoat. When our Daughter had Strep Throat he was a wreak..........He has had disabling Psoriasis for 35 years................Both of us do worry when or how soon they find a cure because of the kids. Atleast now they have some idea of treatment ........35 yrs ago we were wrapping him in Plastic after covering him with cortizone cream............Result was diabetes!
Too much of tomato based products, yeast, too much sun on my skin, tanning beds, beer, tobacco, the wrong brand of hand lotion/perfumes, stress, not enough exercise, and strep infections. I really have to take good care of myself or pay the price of a bad PA and Psoriasis flare up. I can still flare up even while on Enbrel. Although it is not as bad as it would be if I were not taking Enbrel twice a week.
For me it is this vaccine I had when I was 11.
I remember having strep a lot as a kid....got psoriais at age 3
that and my mom, grandma and greatgrandma have it.....

I have a family history of it also. Great Grandfather had it and died from it(caught an infection through his skin), Grandmother had it and my sister has it. It skipped my Mother. And so far, my children don't have any sign of it. Thank God!
If I get stressed or get over tired I get very red patches. Mostly on my right leg and one patch on back.also around the hair line . My son is 36 and has it worst then me and uses antthing with zink ,in a cream or shampoo...Is there any new treatments that I dont know about?
All you can do with over the counter remedies is to help control the itch and pain of it. Rest, exercise, good moisterizers, and good eating habits could help to put it in remission. I heard that fish oil pills can help with the inflammation. Nothing really helped me once I turned 35 except Enbrel injections.

To be completely honest, I was 17 when I first broke out after a summer of using drugs. It was all over my back and my forehead. At the time I had no idea what it was but didn't really try to treat it. It was my first experience with drugs so I guess my body freaked out but it reminded me what I learned in school! Say no to Drugs!!!! Now it seems to flare mostly during winter, stressful times and when I stop treament.
When I had a reaction to Benedictine I got strep, and that hurt for awhile, I even coughed up blood.
I use Hemp cream that's helps too
