Stelara

I am now on the 3rd shot of Stelara.  I have started to occlude the psoriasis that is not healing on its own. My skin is still red however and though it's not getting any better with just the shots it's not getting any worse.  I think I may need the next shot sooner than the 12 weeks.  I just wanted to update the results thus far.  Nothing in scalp or nails.  Nothing on torso.  One fifty cent size place on thigh but pustular on arches of feet, pretty much gone since I have been covering it. My…See More

When my psoriasis flares up a bit...I take one 25 mg. shot every week for three weeks...then back to one shot every three to four weeks. This way I limit the financial hardship. I am on Medicare and the donut hole happens in two months! So I am…

I also spread out the dosage. WHen we hit our psoriasis hard with a drug....there is a rebound effect. Very similar to what happens with cancer and chemotherapy. The proliferating cells fight back as a overraction to the "hit." Does this…

Stelera

I went to derm yesterday and he was going to take me off Stelera after two shots because my skin, when I saw him the last time, was a mess and very inflamed (bright red).  He wanted to put me on Remicade.  Long story short, skin was improved and was no longer bright red but I now have a rotten cold/flu.  Today my skin is back to being inflamed and the spots that faded are purple.  I guess this is because my immune system is fighting the cold? Seems logical.  For some reason Stel. seems to take…See More

Stelara 3rd Week

Lots of white spots, some hair loss, placques less deep and no peeling. I don't feel like Pigpen so much anymore, more like a spotted trout. Some herpes type infection or top of ear (itchy and painful sores that crust over and go away in about 3 days-but for the most part I am progressing. I get my booster shot next week so will keep everyone informed.

I started it a week ago, 90% covered due to rebound from Humira. Nothing yet, no results. Guess it takes about 12 weeks before anything happens.............dunno, not happy but looking toward the future?

Yes, Humira just "stopped working" for me. For a year I had great results and cleared completely, then the psoriasis started coming back here and there. The last two months it has come back full force. My doctor tells me that sometimes…

I am on Medicare and the donut hole happens in two months! So I am paying full price until I reach that $4,000 dollar limit. Enbrel has a three year shelf life. So I stock pile!

I also spread out the dosage. WHen we hit our psoriasis hard with a drug....there is a rebound effect. Very similar to what happens with cancer and chemotherapy. The proliferating cells fight back as a overraction to the "hit." Does this make sense to you? So........start slowly and work your way up until you find the doseage that keeps everything tolerable. I have never needed a complete clearing. I just medicate to a tolerable level. I hope this helps you. I have been on Enbrel for over 5 years. I take one 25 mill. shot every 3-four weeks.

I have managed my plaque psoriasis all these years with many different remedies. Methotrexate was one of the first. Over the years I have found that doctors only prescribe the dosages the drug companies prescribe. Drug companies prescribe more than necessary. Now we wonder why? TO SELL MORE DRUGS! So I always start with 1/3 the dose. I find I can manage my psoriasis with less.

I have just joined. I was reading some of the blogs and it's the first time that I've read anything that was said about the canker sores in the nose (staph), thank you because I get them a lot. I was on Ebrel, stopped working, have been on Humira for about a year and a half and I got a virus infection. Stopped taking it for two weeks. The Psoriasis started to get really bad again so starting taking the shots and they haven't worked since. Really upset because except for the Staph I was clear although the Humira did make me feel like I had the flu sometimes. I go to the doctors next month. Need to share..........
