I've had Psoriasis of one form or another since I was 12. It first appeared that year after summer camp. I came home with pus filled blisters all over the bottoms of my feet. It was so painful, I had to walk on crutches. It was misdiagnosed as athlete's feet at the time. All through my teenage years, I would have flare ups on my legs. It would appear as red, painful, itchy, fluid filled blisters. Then the skin would peel off and start all over again. I felt like the alligator girl. Then like magic it went into remission when I was around 15 or 16. I spent many good young years in remission. But.......when it decided to rear it's ugly ahead again in my mid thirties, it came back with a vengance on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet. I developed cellulitis in my left arm from having no skin on my hands. The staff bacteria entered through my raw hands and got into my blood stream. I had a 104.9 temperature when I arrived at the hospital. I spent seven days there receiving fluids and antibiotics through my blood stream. I was surprised when my Doctor told me that I could have died. It took me six months of oral antibiotics to finally rid my body of the infection. Then I started having pain everywhere there was a joint/tendon. That's when I found out that I have psoriatic arthritis as well. My derm started me on Enbrel injections twice a week. It has been a miracle drug for me. I feel soooo much better. My psoriasis has completely cleared up and my joints feel better. It's almost too good to be true.
