Both of my daughters have Psoriasis. My 25 year old started when she was 5 years old and was started on topical and oral steroids, continued with all the usuals--methotrexate, embril and another experimental one, both having some results. She had light therapy and used tanning booths but we quit all the steriods and do nothing now other than some OTC topical creams. She has no health insurance.

My 21 year old is a Down syndrome on Medicaid and Social Security disability and hers began after a few years after birth, later loosing most of her hair and with vetiligo skin depigmentation. We decided to not take any action with drug therapy after consulting with 4 dermatologists, all but one stating there is no effective drug in use. She has had 2 major surgeries on her bladder, building a bladder neck, a thryoidectomy and has symptoms of arthritis. The other MD was very aggressive with the expensive drug therapy and we (my wife is an RN) decided the side effects and long term dangers were just too much after seeing older friends with fatal consequences of long term use of methotrexate and other steroids for psoriasis and multiple sclerosis.

I have a neurological disease with 3 different diagnoses, apparently a consequence of military service and am being treated for these at the VA hospital and VA satellite clinic.

My wife has none of the symptoms but some of her siblings have the same diseases processes, psoriasis and vetiligo.

We have decided to wait for the long term results of this blog and also to look for the cancer risks.
