No Help For this Psorimadness.!!!!!!!!!!

Hello everyone. First my heart goes out to all of you for I know your pain first hand. I will try to make this as short as possible. I think I started with my psoriasis long ago with different things showing up at different times and not being able to put it all together.

In 2007/2008 I was working as a floral designer standing on my feet all day. I had problems with my feet before but this was a nightmare. On a pain scale of 1-10 it was a 10 all day every day plus my shoulders, arms and hands hurting to especially on the drive home. I started the job in Oct and by Feb. my boss said I should be making 18 arangements per day which was a out of line, most of the other desiginers made around 14. I told him of my medical issues and that I needed to see a dr. to find out what was wrong and to take care of it and then I should be able to pick up speed but needed to wait till my ins. kicked in. He seemed to understand but I should of had it all documented and had him sign it, big mistake on my part.

My insurance finally kicked in the month of March and I made drs. appts. When I went to the podiatrist he looked at my ex-rays then he asked to see my toe nails and wanted to cut them a little shorter( I nearly hit the roof in pain) but survived it. Then he asked to see the patch I had on my elbow and my ears and my fingernails. He asked me questions and said that I had psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and needed to see a rheumatologist. He recomended one and I made an appt. Before I got to see the rehumatologist my boss laid me off. Bye bye to that appt, my ins and any hope of getting complete diag.

Since then I have been looking for a job and couldn't find a rehum that helped on life span ( a free program) Both the derm & the rehum there gave me exactly 5 min. of their time. So no complete workup and no disability so no med. help and the help I did find was of no help. I am not as bitter as I could be. Even though I have many flare-ups and pain with no meds, I am thankful that it is not as bad as it could be. I wish and hope that this New Year brings less flare-up's and less pain for you all. I try to always look at the positive and that get's me through alot. Thanks for listening

Hello! and thank you for giving me your time also! :-) It does mean a lot even if few lines are dropped. I am right there with you. I also had to quit my job because I cant walk or use my hands too much. Also i lost insurence with my parents because I am not a full time student anymore. and actually i am kinda bitter, because i understand their policy but they are not understanding the fact that i did not drop school on purpose. well I am on methotrexate right now. and its actually helping a little bit because if i am not on anything, well lets just say i have crawled my way to the bathroom at times. I am not sure where you are located but in Dallas texas we actually have a free clinic in irving and my regular doctor goes there to volunteer. and at this point i paid the $80 fee for regular checkup. and my doctor actually managed to get me into a free program where i can recieve stelara when i am ready. so make sure you are seeing some good doctors, and also methotrexate costs about $30 for 16 pills. so see if you can just get a prescription from a local doctor for something. because flare-ups really can be a nightmare as you know! okie i m done for today. i write wayyy too much. thank you again. and bigs hugs! take care and be well!

Hey Joanne....first of all welcome to the family...second...big hugs from this southern gal that understands your pain.....i had a similar thing happen to me when i was younger.....my parents insurance created so many hoops for my parents to jump through to get me help....we searched things online for clincs and what not....my grandmother had heard of a possible clinic that would help people period....insurance...but couldnt make the co pays....or no insurance.....so we called the place having the clinic and it was true....they were holding a clinic and we were on our way....we traveled almost two hours away and waited in a waiting room for 8 hours before they could get to me......and then the ball started rolling....i suggest calling a few clinics and explaining your situation and see if they will see you.....also....you can try charity applications at health departments clinics and hospitals...you have to get help.....hugs and again welcome!!!!!
